The Current State of Agent Monetization

We pulled the numbers across 4,060 companies for our State of Agent Monetization 2026 report. Four findings do most of the explaining.
First, adoption is real. 14.6% of the companies we track, 592 of 4,060, now show an AI agent on their pricing page. That group includes Anthropic, HubSpot, and Zendesk.
Second, most of this is very new. 54% of the agent-related changes we logged in Q2 were launches rather than updates to something already live, and 58 companies shipped their first agent during the quarter.
Third, most companies are bundling. 70% of the agents we see are included in an existing plan rather than sold as an add-on or metered on their own. Only 16 companies changed the price of their agent all quarter: 4 moved it behind a higher tier, 7 repriced, and 5 started metering usage.
Lastly, Sales/CRM/CS lead the way. The largest group of agent launches came from Sales, CRM, and Customer Success tools, where 5.3% of companies shipped an agent in Q2. That's the category where paying for work has taken hold most aggressively.
Read together, these point to the same pattern. Right now the goal is adoption, not revenue. Bundle the agent, launch it, get people using it, and sort out pricing later. It’s a reasonable first move, especially as the economics of AI continue to change evolve.
